Be a floral gift-giver
As I prepare for the busiest holiday in the floral world, Valentine's Day, I have had thoughts on the impact of flowers and how much better people feel after receiving flowers. Did you know that research reveals that people who give flowers make the best impression compared to other gifts studied. They are considered more likable, friendly and emotionally intelligent. The floral gift-giver is regarded as highly caring, trustworthy, loving, successful, and as valuing achievement and beauty in life.
Now, with all this information, while I feel that every floral shop, grocery store, and other various floral distributors have a place in this world, I also think it's important to consider the value of your floral purchase- I'm not talking just financially, either. For example, the prices might be less at your local grocery store, easy and quick access but the quality is not there. They buy in large bulk and receive a lower grade of flower, hence the lower price. Online advertisers like Teleflora, FTD, Pro-Flowers, 800 Flowers, etc. are a middle person that charge fee's after fee's. You may see a lower $ value but when purchasing through those companies, you also are spending money that your local florist would have been able to add in to the flower quantity. This is why, I believe, it is best to buy direct from your local floral designer. Not only that, but who seriously wants a cookie cutter design? If you're reading this, I'd say it's not you, and you have a palette for the more artistic expression. You can send orchids, calla lilies, tropicals, and a modern display of roses- who really want's the standard old fashioned plunk of roses, baby's breath, fern and a ribbon, anyways? Not into flowers and can't keep plant's alive but you love them? Airplants are the perfect solution and they are beautifully sculpted on driftwood. Too busy to pick something up, we deliver in Boise, Eagle, Meridian and Nampa.
